I recently read an article on the dangers of children and the Internet. The article was very strong in keeping children away from computers and do not allow children to become reliant on ease of computer science research.

In fact, I see things very differently. I think computers are a wonderful piece of equipment for children. I would like to share my thoughts on how computers can help children.

1. As a child, I was not good in geography. Today, the Internet can provide maps for the world. You can visit any country, any continent or even city. Each of us learns differently. For me, seeing the card flat in the history book did not help me learn. With the Internet and be able to see maps with neighboring countries has been a wonderful way to finally understand all this. It helps me put things in perspective when I see how other countries compare to the size the U.S. You can not get this point of view of a page in a text book.
2. Although mathematics and I were great friends when I was in school, this is not the case for all children. Today, children do not need to spend hours in agony of learning formats that often they never use again. Every computer I saw was a basic calculator and you can search online for more advanced problems solved.
3. Over the years, both my children knew other children who have passed opportunities to go to camp the night terrible not knowing anyone there. Today, the camps are forming online communities to ensure that all children can meet online and chat online even before they arrive at camp. Once the camp is for children to e-mail and instant messaging one another. When I was young, we had to hand write letters and mail them.
4. When children need to research, there are no limits. As a kid, I was limited by what encyclopedias are available at local libraries and how these books were in progress. Today, our children can access the meticulous research of hundreds of sources.

If I can certainly see the cons of computer use, such as not learning functions, basic math and relationships that both start and end of line, I think the benefits outweigh largely on the disadvantages.
