Checkered ScarvesTips for a beginner knitter.?

I am very new to knitting, I just learnerd about a month ago, and have made a scarf. I want to cover in a checkerboard pattern, I could just make squares and sewing them as I go toghter??? And also any advice would be appreciated as I know anything Hardley. All I can do is point of knitting and PURL Stich .... Thus, all the tips and tricks would be great

Everything you need to know is on the link below. here. Knitting is a combination of knit and upside down with variations. You can make squares and sew or crochet together later.
Youtube has a lot of knitting videos if you need help with anything. Do not knit when you are tired and still have good lighting. It is a great hobby and you have something useful to you or as gifts. Have fun knitting!

I agree with Donya one of the easiest ways to make the garter or stockinette (knit one row, the following line in reverse) into blocks, then sew or crochet together. It's a big project for a beginner, but if you have a ton of time on your hands and a lot of son, he feels great when it's finished! Good luck!
