Raw LeatherDoes that prove enough information on the MP-40 ...?

The MP40 (Maschinenpistole 40, literally "Machine Pistol 40") is a submachine gun developed in Germany and used extensively by paratroopers, platoon and team leaders, and other troops during the Second World War. The MP40 has been characterized by its relatively low rate of fire and low recoil.

Both MP38 and MP40 submachine guns are open bolt, blowback-operated automatic weapons. Fully automatic fire was the only parameter, but the relatively low rate of fire has triggered sniping with controlled fires. The lock includes a telescopic spring guide which serves as a buffer back tire. The cocking handle was permanently attached to the bolt on top MP38, but on the production and the end of MP38 MP40, the bolt handle was made in a separate part. He also served as a safety by pushing the head of the handle in a separate slot above the main opening, which closed the bolt is in position before or ******. The lack of this feature on the top MP38 resulted in field expedients such as leather harnesses with a small loop, used to hold the bolt in forward position.

The receiver is machined steel, but it was a long and costly process. This has led the development of a simplified version of that used stamped steel and electro-spot welding, as far as possible. The MP38 also features longitudinal grooving on the receiver and bolt, and a circular opening on the magazine housing. These features have been removed from the M38/40 and MP40.

A unique feature visible on most MP38 and MP40 submachine guns was aluminum, steel or bakelite bar rest or support under the barrel that was used to stabilize the weapon when firing on the side of the roof armored personnel carriers opened as the SdKfz 251 halftrack. A handguard was located between the housing magazine and pistol grip and was made from plastic derived from Bakelite. The barrel was not any form of insulation, which often resulted in burns to the hands holding it departs. He was also a compact metal folding stock, a first for a submachine gun, resulting in a shorter weapon when folded, but has sometimes been insufficiently durable hard usage in combat.

Although the MP40 was generally reliable, a major weak point was his 32-round magazine. Unlike the Thompson double column, double feed magazine, the MP38 and MP40 used a double-column, single supply design. The single stream leading to increased friction against the remaining cartridges move up to the mouth of food, sometimes resulting in lack of flow, the problem has been exacerbated by the presence of dirt or dust. [4] Another problem was that the magazine was also sometimes used as a handle, which could cause a malfunction of the gun when the hand pressure on the magazine body caused the magazine lips to get out of line power, since the magazine did not properly keep the magazine firmly locked. The German soldiers were trained to grasp the handle is provided on the underside of the weapon or the magazine housing with the hand of support to avoid feed malfunctions.

Contrary to the impression given by popular culture, MP40 are generally issued only to paratroopers and platoon and team leaders, the majority of soldiers carrying guns Karabiner 98k. However, experience with Soviet tactics where entire units armed with submachine guns firepower of their German counterparts to short-range urban combat caused a shift in tactics, and by the end of the war, it was granted all squads assault on a limited basis.

There is never enough MP40 because the costs of raw materials and labor made it expensive to produce along the Kar98 rifles. For this reason, in 1943, the German army proposes to replace both the Kar-98 rifle and MP-40 with an assault rifle new MP-43/44, also known as a production model that StG44 .
