Is it a closed bag of flour, Tabasco or hot sauce, teriyaki or Dijon mustard really expire on the date exp? What about sugar, salt, things like oat bran and oatmeal?
None of these products very "end". The dates on food are a sell by date for maximum freshness, not when the product goes wrong. All these products stay fresh longer if they have not been opened. Only dairy products would be questionable and you have not included any of these.
No, it's a health regulation that all food must have an expiration date, but there are some that are very difficult to go wrong. In fact, salt and sugar have been used for centuries to preserve food, like a marmalade fruit is canned in sugar and meat can be salted or smoked to preserve. Another product used since ancient times to preserve food is vinegar, which is the basis for the preparation of Tabasco sauce and mustard. On the other hand, the teriyaki sauce is basically a fermented grain, soybeans preference, and salt, it is also a preserve.
Now, flour and oatmeal are not exactly processed for preservation, but rather for consumption. There are a number of insects that feed on them and they can get stale. So I would respect the expiration date on these, but not dogmatic.
I store my dry goods consumption in coffee cans to avoid the bugs get in - - Paper and plastic have small holes for them to get in
I - - flour (2) sugar (5) salt (1) oats (1) masa - corn flour (1) and several cans of beans
I try to buy on sale - - I refuse to pay inflated prices, if I can
As for sauces thought to be used - - but I doubt that you read the "Expiration Date" correctly - - that must have a best by date or deadline for a refund - the ones you talk a lot of vinegar or fermented
(I have never seen the word used Exhale)
not exactly, but they lose their flavor and character and it will be only as a structure, you can always use it at your own risk, but you can not get the best of it which means that no point its use, on the other hand it can cause health problems to your beloved you will lose more money compared to those of fabrics
Tabasco hot sauce, Dijon mustard trriyaki expires
for flour, they are no longer valid, but too u can use them to wash year of beef, chicken or fish with instead of throwing
In my country, ground meat, chicken or fish with flour and then washed with water to get rid of the stench
